The Fall of the Imperial Guard
Once there was a dictator,
Wrapped in banners, clothed in praise,
With Napoleons Imperial Guard around him,
He thought himself the sun’s own blaze.
He laughed at those he stood above,
Called them weak, too small to rise,
Forgot that every “worthless” peasant
Still looks up with watchful eyes.
“You are nothing,” he told the crowd,
“I am power, I am law.”
Yet every order, every insult
Cut his throne with one more flaw.
For fear will bow a knee today,
But never truly bend the soul;
And every heart he tried to crush
Remembered, quietly, the goal.
Then came the day the drums went silent,
The Guard no longer blocked the gate;
The ones he mocked, the ones he scorned,
Stood up and chose their own fate.
The banners fell, the echo faded,
His name a whisper, stripped of might;
The people he belittled rose,
And walked away into the light.
So let him boast of iron rule,
Let him sneer and let him shout—
A dictator stands on fragile ground,
For The Resistance always finds a way out.
